At seven he won 2nd place for the fiddle contest in Montebello Canada. Since then he has played at Canada Fest, Fire on the swamp and at Davie Rodeo Arena. He has also won Instrumentalist of the Year for the FMCA and performed with Chubby Wise, songwriter to the world known song "Orange Blossom Special". Matthew has played in bands since he was 5 years old. He has opened with different bands for renown artist like Yankee Grey, Clay Walker, Terry Clark, Mark Wills, and Tracy Bird. He also played throughout Florida from Homestead to Gainesville with bands in places like O.C.Oyster Bar, Davie Junction, Renegade to mention only a few. Lately, he won 1st Place in preliminary " TRUE VALUE COUNTRY SHOWDOWN." and will compete for the state contest in Deland on Nov.2, 2001.
